Franklin leads Mustangs to NEAC win over Wells

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore forward, Shay Franklin (North Norwich, NY) notched the first goal of the game and the Mustangs never looked back as the Morrisville State women cruised to a 3-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) over visiting Wells Express on Saturday afternoon. Franklin finished the game with 2 goals on 4 shots attempted, a career high in goals scored in a game.

  • The Mustangs got on the board in the first 7' of the contest off of a cross from sophomore forward, Jade Shimer (Canastota, NY). Shimer gathered the ball just inside the penalty box on the right side of the goal, crossing the ball to a waiting Franklin, who put the ball away 6:56 into the first half.
  • Shimer recorded her second assist on the afternoon later in the first half, crossing the ball to junior midfielder, Madison Shoemaker (Caledonia, NY) who blasted the ball in the lower left corner of the goal at the 20:18 mark.
  • Franklin registered her second tally in the 68' minute, with an unassisted goal to the back of the net.
  • Senior goalkeeper, Brianna Sorriento logged her second win on the season, collecting 3 saves in 90' for the Mustangs.


Women's Soccer takes a week long break before hitting the road to take on North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent, Penn St.-Abington on Saturday, September 29. The game is slated to start at 1:00pm
